Match Report: 7VEN 1-1 (4-2p) FC Hartlepool

7VEN win on penalties to advance into the semi-final of the Cliffy Campbell Cup.



The game started in favour of FC Hartlepool as they took a throw-in that caught 7VEN lacking, and the number 5 was played through in the eighth minute and lobbed Andrew Fletcher on his debut.


Two minutes later, 7VEN came close as a corner met the head of Liam Grieveson, but he headed wide.


In the 13th minute, Patrick Mulvey had a chance as he cut inside, but the FC keeper claimed his effort.


Jack Stonehouse stood over a free kick for 7VEN in the 18th minute, but it was again claimed by the keeper.


After pushing, 7VEN's equaliser came in the 36th minute as Harrison Smith took down Grieveson's cross superbly and slotted it into the bottom corner.


Throughout the second half, 7VEN created a lot of oppurtinities but none were good enough, and the game went straight to pens.


Stonehouse stepped up first and slotted his penalty to the left, sending the keeper the wrong way.


FC then cannoed their first penalty off the crossbar, allowing Olly Burrows to give 7VEN the advantage with a cool penalty into the bottom right.


Number 20 made it 2-1, as Craig Altringham's penalty was saved. FC's number 8 equalised for FC.


Jamie Jobson fired his effort down the middle for 3-2, but then Fletcher dived down low to save FC's fourth penalty.


Meaning Smith had to score to win, which he did, sending the keeper the wrong way, slotting his effort to the left.


Heatwave Tanning MOTM was awarded to Patrick Mulvey as 7VEN advanced into the semi-final of the Cliffy Campbell Cup. UT7.
