7VEN start of Hartlepool Sunday Football League Premier League season with an emphatic victory over 3 Lions.

7VEN started brightly with the opening chances of the game, but nothing too testing of the 3 Lions' defence.

The opener game in the 11th minute as Olly Burrows rose above everyone to guide his header into the top corner after a deep Jack Stonehouse free kick.

Despite dominating the game, it took 20 minutes for the second goal to come for 7VEN, but it was Burrows again who scored another header, this time after a Harrison Smith cross into the far post.

That was how the score remained in the first half, with 7VEN feeling they should have gone into the break a little more comfortably.

The floodgates well and truly opened in the second half as Harvey Hope won the ball back in the 3 Lions' box, but his strike was saved. However, the ball still trickled in and was helped over the line by Barry Milligan, who ensured the third in the 50th minute.

In the 55th minute, 7VEN made it 4-0. Stonehouse played a perfect ball through to Hope, who rounded the oncoming keeper and slotted it into the empty net.

However, 3 Lions did get one back as the Number 11 squeezed it into the near post in the 57th minute.

Any sign of a comeback was squashed in the 68th minute as Robbie Lithgo, off the bench, Hope laid him off with a header, and he curled one into the far corner.

In the 74th minute, Lighto got his second of the game to make it 6-1. Michael Snowdon played him in with a throw-in; he beat his man beautifully and rolled the ball past the keeper to slot it in.

7VEN then made it 7VEN-1, in the 80th minute, Ollie Watt carried the ball up the field from the defence, played through Lithgo, who then squared it to Watt, who tapped the ball into the empty net.

In what was the last action of the game, 7VEN got their final goal in the 85th minute, as Stonehouse hit one from distance that was helped in by the 3 Lions defender.

Fantastic display in the opening game of the season against a top side. Heateave Tanning MOTM was awarded to Olly Burrows, whose two goals from centre back and commanding presence at the back were vital in setting the tone of the game. UT7.
